"A" Game Fundamentals Receives Congressional Recognition (August 15, 2010)

California Congresswoman Judy Chu (32nd District) named "A" Game as the Nonprofit of the Year (2010). Coach Jefferson was recognized for his wonderful work, dedication, and philanthropic contributions to the people of the 32nd district.

 

The "A" Game Fundamentals Basketball Clinic was founded by Coach Rodney Jefferson in 2000 to fill a void in the community.

OUR MISSION

• Improve fundamental basketball skills

• Teach teamwork, discipline, and life skills

• Provide a skilled, friendly staff

This unique program offers:

The objectives of the life skills segment are to:

• Encourage positive life choices

• Reduce gang recruitment

• Discourage drug and alcohol usage

Gabe Norris Offers Affordable Tutoring Services to "A" Game Participants

Gabe earned a B.A. degree with a double major in Spanish and Communication from the University of San Diego. He specializes in tutoring Spanish and is also skilled in teaching English, Algebra, and History. While in college, Gabe studied abroad in Spain and Mexico. He lived with host families for lengthy periods of time and is well-conversant in Spanish. Gabe is a certified substitute teacher and currently subs for the Monrovia Unified School District. Previously he taught English as a Second Language at the American English Academy. Gabe has his own transportation and is willing to drive to students' houses.

Health and Nutrition

The objectives of the Health and Nutrition segment are to:

• Discourage poor eating habits that create child obesity

• Emphasize the importance of exercise and healthy diet
